What would be nice here is to change the curves for any of these segments within the env section.Instead you have the ability to use the matrix to address the segments independently from any modulation source available. Quite sure it's all by design so that you can really define your patches with great detail. The decay and release portions do show a curve being applied as well. All of this just points to being able to really define the harmonic relationship to great detail depending on your situation.Īs for the env: it's also very quick attack times for the first half and has an indication visually that this is all very linear and not logarithmic though it could indeed be expo or something. Now if you were to have a more subtle depth of pwm and lower the volume for that osc to zero, then use it as an fm source at maximum for a basic sine, you can hear some results as you twiddle the pwm of the WT though it too will be way more audible on the extreme pwm. I could hear differences depending on which one is chosen for scanning (some were audible at the +/-22) further, the limit WT setting also plays a role in that the basic wave shapes will then be included in the set for scanning. Ok, so regarding the wave scan: short answer is yes, the audible difference isn't mostly noticeable in +/- 32 pwm depth for many wavetables. Sounds like you have a bad unit, hope it's a new one that you can return.
Too many parameters that are 'idle' (no filter FM when using PPG mode?) or fiddly (just give me a unipolar LFO please) etc.ĭoes anyone know if another firmware update is planned? I might yet keep it as I'm not averse to good synths with 'odd' character, but it seems a shame as this synth is almost great. The encoders are much improved with the latest OS, but they still jump values.
That said, I might yet return it: despite updating the firmware (why wasn't that already done?!), the Blofeld has repeatedly crashed on me. What I mean is that, while you can load it with your own tables, it has its own and its own character. It does sound like a VSTi, but where it wins over something like Serum is that it feels like a synth. and there are some lovely surprises to be had. It took me a day to get used to the sound, then another session or two till I let it do its thing, rather than me trying to get it to do what I wanted/expected. I've had a Blofeld for a week now - it was the right thing to do as you can never know what a synth is like, or whether you'll like it, until you try it. NOTE: Technical Support is ONLY available Monday - Friday (9 am to 5 pm Central European Time), thank you.Yes, I like hardware too, so will have to try the Blofeld.
